Moss
Most recent comment: Sunday, May 7th, 2006 at 01:05:53
This is the side of a tree - there are multiple types of moss growing here. The most common is (I think) Oregon Beaked Moss. This photo needs more depth of field.
i need to know what type of moss grows in vermont

This temple is setup to be beautiful. You can't go up and touch it, and the paths around the temple support a few hundred on looks an hour.
I love this statue and everything it is a butifull space that is butiful to look at

Train to Nikko
Most recent comment: Sunday, May 7th, 2006 at 01:05:34
We hadn't yet activated our rail passes so we took a local line from Tokyo to Nikko. This is the Asakusa station where we got on the Tobu-Nikko train. Quick question - when does our train leave, and from which platform?
I have found your lovely photos. (Asked Google "Nikko Garden") I am going to go to Japan in June, want to go to Nikko botanic gardens and any other gardens, wild flower walks, etc. I would be very grateful if you could give me any information. I am Scottish, do not speak any Japanese, hope to stay at Youth Hostels, or other reasonable accommodation for about ten days.

Hundreds of Spray Cans
Most recent comment: Sunday, May 7th, 2006 at 01:03:35
When a load of logs is ready for market, it is sprayed with paint and tagged. These are the partially used remains of the spray can depot. Most cans still have paint in them and some cans have already burst.
WITH ALL THOSE CANS I COULD TAG UP ALL OF PHILADELPHIA.........

Hi,
I came across your pictures...and I must say that they are awesome!! My grandfather used to take my little brother and I to Namu...and my time there is some of the best memories that I have. My grandpa is old now, and cannot come on a boat....but he gave me his boat, and one day when my kids are old enough I will bring them to Namu so they can discover its magic!!
Thank you again for these photos!

This shot was inspired by a shot in Mexico . I was never sure I took that shot so I tried it again here. I was in the water without a boogie board and I would swim along with the wave as Mark started to take off.

Coming into Shearwater
Most recent comment: Thursday, April 6th, 2006 at 00:31:54
Welcome to Shearwater BC! This is the resort half of Bella Bella. The large marina holds many tourist boats (many from the US) and the buildings house a small store, laundry, a post office, a general store and a large marine repair facility. There is a pub! You can see the water taxi between Shearwater and Bella Bella on the left.
I was one of the kids who grew up there.
cameo Wednesday, April 5th, 2006 at 00:09:00
Although the sun is not shinning this photo captures the "flavour" of Shearwater. I want to go back ASAP to hike and chase spring salmon.
Michelle White Friday, January 26th, 2007 at 10:27:07
i was also a kid in shearwater back in the early to mid 70's.i have fond memories of adventures that unfortunatly my kids can't experience but i tell them stories of the fun we had.

I'm actually surprised how often I get comments like this. What can I say? These are my vacation pictures - I'm not trying to be an encyclopedia. (Funny enough - the wikipedia doesn't have an article either). Perhaps a guide book would help? Post your question on a forum?

The Queen of The North is the Ferry that BC Ferries runs for the Mid Coast.
Sorry she sank today looked like a mighty fine boat
dave Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006 at 10:20:26
Sorry for the mishap. Was the Queen of the North the former Baltic Sea vessel? Some years ago my wife and I took some German visitors on the former Baltic Sea vessel roundtrip fom Prince Rupert to Port Hardy.

This was a beautiful ship. I'm trying to find out if she was ever known as the M.V. Wickersham, formerly registered by the Alaska Marine Highway.

Thursday, March 23rd, 2006 at 08:06:08
There is now quite an article on the wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_of_the_North. It was built in Germany in 1969 and operated by Stena Line as Stena Danica in the North Sea until 1974. She came to Canada in 1974 and was renamed the Queen of the North in 1980.
I live on the Queen Charlotte Islands(population 5000), this boat (along with a slightly smaller, older vessel which is in refit at the moment) was the only way to get on or off the Island with a vehicle. A sad end for a boat that used to go out in insane weather along the Hecate Straight. This is also the only way groceries and freight, so yesterday the grocery stores were jammed and by 10:00 am sold out of milk! Going to be interesting to see what happens. There will be a barge service commencing, but no passengers.
Lynn Thursday, March 23rd, 2006 at 10:42:01
As a Summer crew member of the North . It was a very sad day for me and the meny others who work on her and with her . I was to work on her again this summer . It saddens me I will not feel the ship cuts the water or the way she rock me to sleep when I was on nites shifts . I can say I was able to ready the North in the Late Feb for her return to service. I took more pride in my work knowin That I would be with her in a few months . The Queen of the North was one of my Fevorite ships . And she is already missed.
Ed Gravoinc Thursday, March 23rd, 2006 at 12:38:58
That ship was great and is still doing the work at the bottom of the lake. She will always get her goods to her destination. Thank you sir
I love that boat Friday, March 24th, 2006 at 23:13:03
All memories of the Queen are happy ones. It's like losing a part of your childhood
liz Saturday, March 25th, 2006 at 12:29:36
