Cherry Blossum With City Sunset
Sunday, January 22nd, 2023 at 00:09:09 This was my second shot at this sunset. I repositioned so I could get the whole tree in the shot rather than just a branch. I didn't bring quite so wide of a lens. This is 745 frames, Starting at 7:39pm and ending at 9:16pm. I think sunset was about 8:15. The interval was 8 seconds and I shot in aperture priority mode because I finally figured out how to set my camera to limit the longest exposure in A mode until it starts increasing the sensitivity. The photos started at f/8.0, 1/160th of a second at ISO 100 (exposure is set to under exposed by 2 stops) and it ends at f/8.0, 6 seconds, ISO 160 (still under exposed by 2 stops) I have manually photoshopped out people walking in front of the camera and a few birds. Vancouver From Burrard Dock Pier
Sunday, January 22nd, 2023 at 00:08:02 This was shot at 42mm. I took a photo every 10 seconds from 6:28am to 8:18am - 664 frames. Exposure started at f5.6 8 second (under exposed 1 and 2/3rds stops) and ended at f14, 1/50th of a second. Sunrise At Jerhicho Pier

The previous week I went to Jericho to photograph birds and noticed a great sunrise. This week the sunrise was windy but just ho-hum light. That said, I did see some nice shore birds this week which I didn't see last week. Lens was set to 40mm if it helps. Sunset On Fraser Lake

It started at f18 and 1/100th of a second and dropped down to f5 and 2.5 second exposures. Being this far north, the sun doesn't really set so you don't get much of a sunset. As the sun fell, the exposure the moon became over exposed. Exposure started at f22, 1/400th of a second, ISO 400 (under exposed by 2 stops) Exposure ended at f5.6, 1.3 seconds, ISO 400 (under exposed by 2 stops) In post, I brighten the image, but keep the whites and highlights down. Sunset At Fishermans Wharf
Sunday, January 22nd, 2023 at 00:06:43 This turned out to be more tricky that I was expecting. This was 998 frames starting at 7:01pm on April 19th (1/400 of a second at f11), ending at 9:14pm (5 second exposure at f5). It was shot at 28mm. The camera is in shutter priority and I drop the shutter time in half again and again as the lighting gets dark. The tricky part was that I was on a floating dock and I didn't realize at the time, but every time I moved, the dock shifted. I started taking photos at 7:23pm (1/100 at f20) and ended 621 frames later at 8:46pm (2.5 seconds at f10). The dock is so large that me walking around didn't change the camera pointing angle. Fireworks Time Lapse From Burrard Bridge
Sunday, January 22nd, 2023 at 00:05:20 This was tricky. I had the camera in shutter speed priority until the fireworks started and then switched to manual mode to get a reasonable exposure. This is 1071 frames shot 6 second apart for 107 minutes or 1 hour and 47 minutes. It is played back at 15 fps so it isn't all flashes and the boats don't look crazy fast. I wanted to take more photos after so you could see the rush of boats come back but a little girl needed to go pee. Roadside Mining
Sunday, January 22nd, 2023 at 00:05:13 There is a small deposit of pyrite in this rock face. The kids mostly broke the cubes out of the pieces already chipped off, but this mean the cubes they found were small. We started taking photos at 3:21 pm and I took a photo every 6 seconds. I took 358 photos but I had to remove 75 photos where my low hanging shorts showed my underwear. I rendered it to 15 frames per second video because 30 fps make us look crazy. I stopped shooting at 3:56 and we left shortly after. Tags: time lapse

Setting Up Camp
Sunday, January 22nd, 2023 at 00:04:58 This timelapse was inspired by a timelapse I did last year at Rathtrevor. I took a photo every 10 seconds starting at 5:00:38 pm and took 271 pictures (ended at 5:45:38). I made the same mistake as last year - I left the auto focus on so the camera refocused from time to time which on this lens changes the focal length (effectively zooms). To fix it I used the auto align layers command in photoshop which took approximately 18 hours to run. The auto align wasn't perfect, but it's an improvement.
