Trailside Salmonberry
The girls spotted this - I missed it. Salmon berry is pretty common, even in downtown Vancouver. This is two pictures composited. I have other photos which include the leaves which makes me more sure of the ID.
Species: Rubus spectabilis (salmonberry)

This is a recurring species in my life - I see it all over.

Queens Cup
These were pretty common and most of the leaves were really dusty from the crushed gravel they use on the trail. I didn't want to go off the trail because that is a bad idea.
Species: Clintonia uniflora (bride's bonnet, Queens Cup)

Lotuscorniculatus
There was a small patch of this growing by where I used to work in Burnaby so it caught my eye here when I saw it at the side of the road (and plentiful). This is a terrible photo.

Paintbrush
Turns out there is an alpine version of this plant (that has a different colour). Now I'm on the lookout for it.

Brittle Prickly-pear Cactus
I'm really glad the kids didn't step on it. This was growing in a field beside a kids bike park. The kids were really proud of themselves for finding it.

Northern Kelp Crab In Hand
This little guy moved around pretty fast, but liked the top of Mike's backpack. We found others when paddling - they were generally hanging on kelp. Pugettia producta.

Sunflower Star and Leather Star
The sunflower (Pycnopodia helianthoides) is a real predator - it would eat the leather star (Dermasterias imbricata) if given a chance. This sunflower star has 18 arms, but from the look of it, some are rather new. Fully grown, they should about 20 arms.
