Peacock

This bird was standing on one of the outer buildings in the gardens at Hatley castle. There weren't many birds but they were fairly tame.

Kelp
Most recent comment: Friday, December 19th, 2008 at 16:09:06

Kelp (I think this is called bullhead kelp) washes up everywhere.  I was surprised
to see so much of it washed up in once place, but I'm sure there are lots
of storms.

These things are weird looking.I didnt know that kelp looked like this, and I beleive this is the roots of the plant. I beleive you should look this up on a book.

Vendor Selling Peppers Near Pike Place Market
Most recent comment: Tuesday, December 16th, 2008 at 16:05:22

I'm not sure why this vendor made it so hard to get into his store, but
it was an interesting collection of peppers.

looking for the name of the vendor that sells these hanging peppers, want to order some

The market has a web site:

http://www.pikeplacemarket.org/frameset.asp?flash=false

but I don't see a site for the store. Perhaps you can fish out a phone number.

I love how the beach changes from bed rock to pebble beach in a sudden (and usually sculpted) transition.

Hello! I was just wondering what this website is for. Thankyou, Oliver

That is a really good question. I'm got into photography for two reasons - the first to record memories to extend the value of the free time I did get. Second - to try and create an image that would have garner an emotional response. This web site is mostly about satisfying the first requirement. Some people find it useful, but I suspect some people don't.

Helen Soaking In Spring
Most recent comment: Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 at 04:23:42
The pools have been built up so the water cools with time, not with mixing. That wall behind Helen has lots of little springs so you sometimes find hot hot spots.

Have you ever traveled the easter route past Harrison Lake? How does it compare to the Pemberton Route?

Spreading Stonecrop
Most recent comment: Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 at 05:53:28
These plants really surprised me - I only saw them once and I've never seen a stonecrop at this altitude before. At first I thought they were berries.

Species: Sedum divergens (Spreading Stonecrop, Pacific stonecrop)

I think "Spreading Stonecrop" is way to bright. the only thing you think about is the light and how it hits the subject rather than the color of the berries. i think if you ussed a filter of a sun-screen you would have gotton what you wanted. On the other hand,"Indian Hellebore" is very nice. I like how it draws your eye in many different places. Also I think you did i good job caputureing the green life. thanks for reading my comments. your pics rock!!!!

Mushroom

This was a nice little mushroom at the side of the trail - picture time!

Hi, I wondering, it's eatable mushroom or not ? Can you answer right now ? And one more question, what it's the name of this mushroom ? Regards, Virginia
Virginia

As I learned from another mushroom picker - if you can't be sure, it's poisonous. Short answer - this is poisonous. It's quite and old mushroom which makes it even harder to identify. Of the mushrooms you look out for to pick on the west coast, this isn't one of them.
