Deer Running In Field

Hello, I loved your page on Mudge Island. I'm planning on moving there shortly. I took the liberty of using your page to "pretour" the island before I took my daughter over. She's 10 and really excited about the whole thing. Thanks, Alex

View Over Howe Sound
Most recent comment: Wednesday, December 5th, 2007 at 04:48:41
3 images seamed together. This is similar to the view from the Chiefs except the woodfibre mill is more prominent.

The hike is dangerous for the first 500 meters then it is a garden of vegetation and a buffet of numerous types of fungy. It took about 2.5 hours to reach the lake, and 1.5 hours to return.Make sure you give yourself lots of time because once it stsrts to get dark you will not see the markers and you could get disoriantated. And remember the ending is the most dangerous so make sure it is light for the end of the trail.wE DID THE HIKE IN LATE NOVEMBER AND WE INCONTERED SNOW AND THE LAKE WAS FROZEN.Robert.

Wailua falls is huge. Apparently people used to dive off rim into the pool below.
There is a turn off from Lihue to get there.

Kyle (known as the sap sucker) has just sampled this years sap.  It seems
to meet with his approval.

I take it he likes it :)

Spider Chrysanthemum
Most recent comment: Friday, October 26th, 2007 at 04:17:34
That purple mesh under the flower head is required to keep the flower head up - otherwise it would probably fall over. These flowers are kept with the same kind of detail people give to bonsai trees.

Glowing Trees

This is where the alien ship landed!  Just kidding!  A hole in the canopy provided some cool under lighting.

My brother is building a house and cut some trees to do so. He told me that one of his tree stumps glow...I did not believe him til he brought a piece home and put it in the bathroom and it glows. He is building in Lafayette, IN. We were wondering what kind of tree does this and why? Thank you Christa

This is the where we stayed.  It gets high marks
for the price, the dinner and quality.

Excellent site. brought back really good memories of Nikko. My Wife and I stayed in the Nikko Turtle Inn (Annex) back in the early 90's - very nice place, great owners, and the sites in the area are amazing. It was snowing and just beautiful. Thanks for the memories.

Alaska State Ferry Matanuska
Most recent comment: Sunday, September 23rd, 2007 at 23:20:32
Matanuska is a valley in Alaska and the name of a glacier. I must have been getting a little bored to be taking photos of ships that pass by, but it is a nice looking ship.

My family lived there when I was a child. It was a great place to live. My parents and numerous relatives were employeed in the canary and the netloft. At that time the village was segrated into 3 areas. Actually 4 areas. There was the "Indian village, White side, Japtown and what we called Tunaville." I have fond memories of the place. I only hope that someone could create pictures of the old village. I have the memories and sadly no ability to create the images.

What a beautiful picture! My grandfather was the Chief Mate on that ship for many years! Brought tears to my eyes as I remembered being in the captain's chair on my grandfather's lap! Thank you for sharing! :)

Non Symmetric Right Left

I love this shot! Although it does look a little phalic, it is interesting.. its not everyday you see water spewing upwards into the air from a natural source. Great capture!

This was at Kahalu'u Beach - the fish seem very tame. The back fish in the back is a ringtail surgeonfish.

Species: Acanthurus blochii (ringtail surgeonfish, whitetail surgeonfish)

orange-socket surgeonfish Acanthurus auranticavus

This picture is absolutely amazing. You captured the blossoming tree so beautifully! I was wondering if you happened to know what kind of tree you photographed?
Beth

Sorry, I can't tell you species - it is one of the spring flowering trees. It's either a cherry blossom or apple blossom. If you want to know for sure, Hatley Castle has an active gardening group - I'm sure they could give you more details.
